Drug Testing... At Schools?

http://sundaygazettemail.com/News/200812040885

I recently came across this article. I decided to post the link since drug testing at work is covered in our text. I think in certain situations drug testing employees is absolutely necessary. But drug testing students at school? I think this idea is rediculous. Thoughts?

Thoughts on our class...

Guys,

What are your overall thoughts on the class? I must admit, this has been an extremely interesting, informative, and enjoyable class for me. I (somewhat surprisingly) have been intrigued by the philosophical conversations and arguments. After listening to both sides of various topics and issues I think it has opened my eyes to situations, and also taught me how to look at both sides of an argument. Perhaps most importantly I feel like I now have enough knowledge on a lot of modern topics (Politics, Corporate Responsibility) to make sensible and knowledgeable decisions. To sum it up, in some way I feel like the class has taught me how to think about not only issues but also how to make the right decision within my ever day life as well.

What are your reflections on the class??

Obama Wants to Avoid Groupthink

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/12/01/AR2008120102198.html

Upon the annoucment of President Elect Obama's choices for his national security team and Secretary of State, people begin to wonder how they will get along. The article even calls them a "team of rivals." Obama likes this because this means groupthink will be prevented. I like this idea since groupthink can cause members of the group to ignore negative information and discard outside ideas, and close their eyes to warning that the group may be mistaken.

President elect

What are everyones thought on Obama winning the presidential race? I must admit, I was quite skeptical of Obama initially. However, now, I must admit after doing some research on his issues, listening to his speeches, I have become more of a fan.

I was somewhat naive about the rumors I had heard, whether it was that he didn't put his hand over heart for the Star Spangled Banner or that he had dined with terrorists. Either way, after seeing and hearing him speak about his family and issues I think that he certainly is a good american and will be a good president.

What are your thoughts?

Insider Trading and the NBA

Dallas Mavericks Owner Charged With Insider Trading:

This is not good press for the NBA and does not paint a good picture for other NBA team owners. Our textbook states insider trading refers to buying or selling stocks based on nonpublic information likely to affect stock prices. I believe insider trading is unfair and Mark Cuban should be heavily punished for his actions.
